Salisbury Listed Cellar

How do you convert a cellar dating back to the 16th century without damaging the building or causing lasting issues in a flood-prone area? Our answer was to work with a waterproofing expert, heritage consultant, and the Conservation Officer to retain all the elements of the building that had worked for hundreds of years, while allowing the space to be used in a way appropriate to the grand home above it.

The outcome was a cellar for the client’s wine collection that required no additional temperature or humidity control, while also functioning as a relaxing contemporary space accessed from the more traditional and historic room above.
